DIRECTORS MESSAGE

It is a true honor to serve as Director of JOLA School. I started my path in education more than 20 years ago. I spent over 16 years in the classroom before becoming principal and now director. I don’t see the director´s position as a job, but as an opportunity to lead our school to great things. The role of principal involves many exciting opportunities associated with student achievement. Most importantly, however, my personal and professional goal is to provide the children of JOLA with the best educational experience possible, one that builds a foundation for lifelong learning. My mission as principal is to always put children first! My belief is that all students can learn, and it is our job to support all of their needs. As educators, we need to discover how each child learns in order to differentiate our instruction to support diverse learning styles; all children are different. I also want all children to love school! My passion for education, as well as the enthusiasm of my teachers, will always be evident. In a collaborative effort, we want children to thrive in every way possible. At JOLA, our mission is to educate students for this digital age as they are digital natives. Our school should be a place where students want to learn and have fun. I promise to provide a learning environment that is positive, safe, and caring; a place to learn and grow. My goal is always to spend time getting to know the JOLA school community: students, parents, families, teachers, and community members. My goal is also to provide our students with the essentials necessary for success in a safe and supportive environment. JOLA staff will work together with the priority of having the best interest of each student in mind. My message to all parents is to stay involved. This can be accomplished by staying in touch with your child’s teacher. Our expectations will be to constantly make sure you are aware of your child’s progress and to answer any questions or concerns you have at any time. This form of two-way monitoring will help ensure the success of your child’s education and well-being. I feel lucky to be in this leadership role and welcome it with open arms every day. Again, I am excited to be the principal of JOLA and look forward to embarking on another exciting school year.

Sincerely,

Teresa Alvestegui
